Oddbird Low Intervention Sparkling Orange Wine
Oddbird Low Intervention Sparkling Orange Wine
Orange Wine is STILL trending and there is a reason why — it's delicious. Aged 12 months, this low-intervention sip has notes of orange peel, fresh fruits like ripe peaches and tangy citrus, and floral hints of jasmine and rose for a smooth and round tasting experience. Fall is here and orange wine is perfect for the spooky season.
What is low-intervention wine?
This means the wine is made with minimal human manipulation, using a philosophy that allows the natural characteristics of the grapes and their origin to shine through. This approach often involves organic or biodynamic farming in the vineyard and minimal additives, such as synthetic yeast or excessive sulfur, during winemaking. The final product may also be unfined or unfiltered, resulting in a more authentic and expressive wine with a direct connection to the vineyard and vintage.
Why is the wine orange?
Orange wine is orange because it is made from white wine grapes, but the grape skins are not removed before fermentation, a process called extended skin contact (just like red wine gets its color from red grapes) The skin contact extracts tannins, color, and flavor, giving the wine its distinctive amber or orange hue and bolder flavor.
